The Department of Animal Science from College of Natural Resources (CNR), in collaboration with the Department of Livestock (DoL), Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MoAL), is currently conducting a Curriculum Development Workshop for the Diploma in Animal Science Programme from 13โ17 July 2026.
The initiative comes in response to the growing shortage of livestock extension professionals in the country. Recognizing the significant role of livestock extension in strengthening the critical role of livestock in improving animal health services, livestock productivity, food security, and supporting rural livelihoods, MoAL proposed the reintroduction of Diploma in Animal Science.
The proposal received approval from Royal Civil Service Commission (RCSC) and is currently under development and review through collaboration between CNR and DoL.The five-day workshop brings together subject matter experts and faculty members to review and develop the curriculum. This collaborative initiative marks an important milestone towards strengthening Bhutanโs livestock sector.
